EBONYI GOVERNOR CONFIRMS SECOND CASE OF CORONAVIRUS IN THE STATE: Otu Obiahu, AJM NEWS Wednesday 29/04/2020 The Governor of Ebonyi State, Engr. Dave Umahi today confirmed another case of the dreaded Coronavirus in the state, making it two cases in less than one week. According to Governor Umahi, this second COVID-19 patient is a 27-year old man who resides and does business in Asaba, Delta State; but was intercepted while returning to Ebonyi with his wife and their caregiver at Ishieke, Abakaliki by a team of police men who later brought them to the State Covid-19 holding centre at Pa Ngele Oruta Township Stadium, Abakaliki where they were scheduled for screening. AJM NEWS The Independent National Electoral Commission on Thursday reduced the number of political parties in Nigeria from 92 to 18, by deregistering 74 political parties. Meanwhile , the  chairman of INEC, Alhaji Mahmood Yakubu has given reasons for the deregistration of the 74 political parties, while briefing newsmen in Abuja. He said the affected parties failed to meet the criteria provided for by section 225A of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) which include: “breach of any of the requirements for registration as a party, failure to win at least 25 percent of the votes cast in one state in a presidential election or 25 percent of the votes cast in one local government area, and failure to win at least one ward in a Chairmanship election, one seat in the national or state assembly election or one seat in a councilorship election”. FG: NIGERIANS WOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO OWN MORE THAN 3 SIM CARDS BY THE END OF THIS YEAR

AJM NEWS Before the end of this year 2020, no person living in Nigeria would be allowed to use more than three Sim Cards. Inline with this, the Honourable Minister Of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Ibrahim Pantami has directed the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to review SIM card registration and usage, in a bid to bar Nigerians from owning more than three mobile telephone lines. According to reports, telecommunication companies will block unregistered SIMs from functioning on their networks in line with the directive which came in the wake of increased killings and kidnapping for ransom and general insecurity. The NCC was also directed to ensure that the National Identity Number (NIN) becomes a prerequisite for Nigerians registering new SIM cards, while for foreigners use their passports and visas.
